The R&M of Unit-1 was awarded to M/s BHEL at a negotiated price of Rs. 120
crore. The work of R&M was started on 25.09.2007 and is expected to complete
within the next 5-6 months. The Unit capacity after R&M will increase from
110 MW to 117.8 MW. |

The R&M of 110 MW Unit-2 has already been carried out and the unit is performing
satisfactorily. |

The
R&M of 110 MW Units 3, 4 & 5 shall be carried out after the completion
of R&M of Unit-1, during the 11th Five Year Plan at an approx.
cost of Rs. 500 crores. |

With
the completion of R&M, these old Units of PTPS are expected to generate maximum
cost effective electricity for the State of Haryana.

It
has been decided to phase out the 55 MW Units of FTPS Faridabad
by 2011-12 as these Units are very old and of obsolete design and the cost of
generation from these Units is very high. As such no major R&M schemes have
been proposed for FTPS. Only essential R&M works required for sustenance of
these old Units is proposed to be carried out. |
