Expression of interest
has been received by the State Govt. from many Independent Power Producers (IPPs)
and HoA has been signed with M/s GAIL, for setting up gas based plants at various
locations in Haryana as shown in the table given below:-

Due
to the uncertainty in availability of gas, the schedule of implementation has
not been firmed up and the State Govt. has not entered into any MoU/ PPA with
the above IPPs.
It
was envisaged that whenever the gas position becomes comfortable, these projects
will be taken up for implementation. Recently, gas findings in the country have
been reported by reputed companies like M/s. Reliance, M/s. GSPC & M/s. ONGC
as under:-

Efforts
are being initiated to set up a 1050 MW Gas Based Power Plant in Faridabad under
the State Sector by phasing out the existing, old/obsolete Coal based 165 MW
Power Plant. The gas requirement for this project is expected to be around 5
MMSCMD. Further, the matter is also being taken up with the Ministry of Power,
Government of India, to implement the 432 MW Stage-II of NTPC Gas Based Power
Plant at Village Mujheri in Faridabad,
the Power from which shall be fully dedicated the State of Haryana.
The gas requirement for this project is expected to be around 2.5 MMSCMD. Possibilities
are also being explored for setting up a 600 MW Gas Based Power Project under
Second Stage of Yamunanagar Power Project with a gas requirement of 3 MMSCMD.
HPGCL,
is also in dialogue with M/s. GAIL, M/s. Reliance, M/s. British Gas, M/s. ONGC
etc. for supply of gas for setting up Gas based Power Plant in Haryana. The support
of Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas is also being
solicited.
