Allocated jointly to GNCT, Delhi and HPGCL under Government Company dispensation in pursuance of Section 3(3) (a) (i) of the Coal Mines (Nationalization) Act 1973 on 2nd August, 2006.The total area of Coal block is around 53 sq. Km with Coal bearing area of 30 sq. Km. Coal reserves in this Coal block is 955.96 million tonne underground Coal reserve varying in grade from A to F.

Progress:

A team comprising of officials from IPGCL, GNCTD & HPGCL visited CMPDIL Ranchi on 25.09.2006 to discus with CMPDIL officers the modalities to be adopted for developing Coal block.

Application filed with State Mining Deptt., Madhya Pradesh on 01.11.2006 for issuing prospecting license .

Application submitted to Divisional Forest Officer (Distt. Sidhi) on 02.11.2006 for topographical and geographical survey

Collected the relevant land details and cadestal map of 8 villages in the coal block area Mara II Mahan on 23.03.2007 after depositing the revenue fee to concerned authority and submitted the same to Mining Officer at Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh.

Administrative approval for development of coal block Mara II Mahan was accorded on 29.03.2007

Discussions held with M/s Mineral Exploration Corp. Ltd. (MECL), Nagpur on 30.03.2007 regarding preparation of GR and exploration of coal block.

Offer for Exploration of the Coal Block was received from M/s MECL, Nagpur on 17.04.2007

MoC was requested on11.05.2007 to make Regional Exploration Report from CMPDI, Ranchi available free of cost to HPGCL/ GNCT, Delhi to get examined techno commercial proposition of this coal block.

Govt. of NCT Delhi informed MoC on 16.08.2007 about surrendering the coal block Mara II Mahan

Meeting held between HPGCL & MECL on 20.08.2007 to review the strategy for exploration of coal block Mara II Mahan based on the provisional GR report being obtained from CMPDI on 27.11.2007 and it was suggested to go for mining of the block covering approx. 10 sqKm in first phase and subsequently balance two blocks of approx 10 sqKm each in second third phase.

A meeting was made with Secretary Energy MP on 06.12.2007 to explore the modalities for setting up of Pit-Head Power Project for this Coal block

FC (Power) accorded the approval for the following :

a) To approve priority exploration to be carried out by M/s MECL, Nagpur (A Govt. of India undertaking) at the rates indicated in their offer dated 17/04/2007.

b) To engage Mecon, Ranchi (A Govt. of India undertaking) to carryout EIA / EMP study, permission from MoE&F, preparation and sanction of mine plan and preparation of FR for coal mining.

c) To engage RQF to facilitate preparation and sanction of mine plan under requirement of MoC and to assist during exploration and mining of the block.

Chief Minister, Haryana made a request to Prime Minister, India vide DO letter dated on 09.01.2008 for exclusively allocation of Mara II Mahan coal block to Haryana
